slowing down again
DA comic tourney entry to finish in a week then void entry comic and sheets to finish, 3-4 commissions to finish, all that before Christmas, feels like there wont be enough time to touch fantasy painting attempts and deeper anatomy studies, lets rush:

Markering some more
Probably gonna get chewed down for bad prioritizing but i needed to tackle this pic first in order to make sure i wouldn't choke while markering the commissions and also cause i was late for this:
Mythokus is created by Theo Bain at theobain.deviantart.com and http://www.theobain.com/
Cant wait to see when he releases his comic : D
In the mean time, inking somewhat clicked, thick outlines to thin inside lines, its all starting to make sense, now i have to stop being lazy and pick up the brushes instead of brush pen, even for practice shots. Mixing anatomy and the force also seems to make more sense, its as if i have to let it all go when i sketch, spill out all the knowledge i know about the muscles when i gesture and then experiment condensing with straight vs curves, thinking too much about style is seriously limiting, hell i start using perspective frequently two years after pounding it into my head with the loomis books, pretty bad. Scene setting, thumbnailing army, composition, animating, i wish i could just drive with em all the time, no fear and all, all day, every day, no holding back, stuff i just read and didn't tackle enough, man i need time to think, cant wait till this semester is over.
No more illustration program, good morning animation and drawing focus.

Quitting Illustration:
Thats it, enough, no more time to waste.
I wanted animation in the first place but fear of loans kept me from getting there, well now i just dont get, bring on the 24 thousand dollar loan as long as i get into a program that focuses on DRAWING and not COPYING. Guys, i tell you, i was very tempted by the Illustration and design's versatility aspect (multi mediums and programs) yet so far, im learning less about drawing than when i was working as a beta tester and doing master copies at night. This is ridiculous. All ive been doing these past semester is trying to make "pretty stuff" using magazine pictures without learning much theory on the core of these pictures. Copy-projects that wont get me zilt jobs in the industry if i dare to put them in a portfolio and a major nervous breakdown when i found out that my long waited for animation class in year 2 IS IN FLASH. Now, seriously, i tried explaining to my teacher that flash is just a tool and id be best to learn hand drawn animation first yet i keep getting BS excuses about flash being the industry, flash being so great and all. Boulder dash. Humongous boulder dash. Right now, ive dropped most of my illustration classes in order to prepare a portfolio for both sheridan and disney. It seems the only way ill ever get fast experience is either find a good program or find a good job. I have learned more as a tester amongst concept artists than as an illustration student amongst other student. Why? CRITICISM! An artist's best friend, from the time i wanted to become serious a friend at my work place gave NO MERCY to the bad anime and hogart wannabe drawings i had years ago. That was prime, i kept running with the feedback and continued to push myself further, yet coming in school, everything i farted was nice to these students and teacher, these were the most painful months in my life. I recently met up with an ex-co-worker at ADAPT montreal and got the trashing of my life. Well my work got trashed and IT WAS GLORIOUS, pinpointed mistakes i quickly jumped on as soon as i got home, doubled anatomy studies, man i cant let go of that knowledge rush for some bs illustration praises. So right now, no more, i might just finish that animation class to make sure that failing it doesnt look bad on my record if i try to enter a REAL animation program then full throttle on portfolio road.
To anyone reading this, show no mercy when criticizing the work on this blog, praises only hurts the artist receiving them lol

It has been decided.
I want to be an animator, its settled. After going through the harsh loops of illustration and design, im finally sure that i want to stick to animation. Ive been learning more about drawing outside the program than inside the program, most composition techniques Ive learned were from other animators here at blogspot.com. Sure, the program got me to work on deadlines faster than before yet all the programs I'm currently using in illustration aren't really drawing program. I mean, ive been surviving the first year to finally get to the animation section and then BAM; No more traditional animation, everything done in flash. And believe me, you do not know how this particular aspect brought arguments between me and my teacher. I'm not gonna start a rant here or anything since drawing can replace that anytime yet flash isn't a drawing program so i cant really use my full potential with this program and problem is that i want to show my best in my demo reel, i cant just send some flash animation or model sheet at disney or another animation studio.

Right now, i dont know whats gonna happen with this illustration program, maybe wait till next year to change to animation, maybe just quit this semester to do freelance work who knows anymore.

School just started so ill have to wait till the weekend to post new stuff. This semester is the fun semester, animation, illustrator, more rendering. Now i have to beat the deadlines head on, no late penalties and all. And also, NO VIDEO GAME DISTRACTION. That DS and PSP will remain sealed for a while, i hope. Ill try to post some new stuff tonight.

Otakuthon 2007
This year for otakuthon, our illustration and design group tried to do an print sale to fundraise our vernissage. We got at least 6-8 people to participate but we were only 3 people at the table. In any cases it was a blast, met up with alot of people, old friends as well.

slowed down take 2:
Anthrofest passed, pretty good moment, met back with some good friends i met last year and this time double backed their contact info so that'll prevent some loses if my hd dies again. But for now, its time to work for otakuton, we have a class fund raising plan where we sell prints over there and all the funds go for the vernissage. So ill be there doing sketch commissions all day at our class table and possibly sketching people on location for the heck of it, studies and all. For now, here's a sketch i did for an anthrofest participant:

Anime sketches will be uploaded tonight.
