Short list :
-New tablet pc acquired
-Prepared prints for a convention
-Tablet drivers finally started working with a recent update
-Setting up a parody animation
Things i noticed:
- Blending pencil rendering with digital coloring is more complex than simply dropping the sketch in a multiply layer with the channel trick.
- Inking in general makes a cleaner combination with the digital coloring.
- leading the eye with shading and volume can help alot.
- I work better when working faster: Less time to halt and think too deeply about certain moves, less restraint, gotta push the halting session after a good hour of working on the piece.

outlines feel like a crutch to me, since my mind goes into the state saying " ok lets finish this" and if the outline doesnt look good, whole thing seems scrapped. But by outlining, i cant seem to stick to the natural flow of the construction. Like this :
Theses really push me in a certain way: Maybe its the way theses pencils have "no f*cks given"
Maybe its cause i dont have the feeling i gotta "seal" anything, maybe its the lack of a "Step by step approach".
Who knows but if it gets me going, lets keep it up and see if i can find ways to get the same rush with other mediums. Maybe doing straight on prismacolor pencils and marker blending - Straight up digital painting - straight up 4b drafting etc.
No fear no holfing back, it seems.

Been experimenting, practicing, studying. Im getting close to an answer, i just need to keep pushing, researching and ill eventually see it. Diving into the river is often hard but it's one effective way to learn.
Here's what ive been at for the last few months, most of it was on tumblr: http://speedingfireball.tumblr.com/

Portfolio and job search wise i must play on my strength instead of showing what i WANT to do in the future.
Again i try to aim for some god damned rendering art job- high painterly things which i dont really favor but i REALLY want to jump in the constant drawing cycle so im throwing myself at any artjobs i see with no success.
Which is why working on the prototype sprites in flash would be a boost BUT, if i dont try going for the other jobs then i dont know i'd get it, so why not?
Yet the focus should be on prototyping and not doing any TRIAL periods (we all saw how that worked with Slang studio, as fun as it was- no pay no gain.)
Noticed my odd, long terms artistic cycle:
- Recheck the basics/fundamentals
- Recheck anatomy entirely/Go to life drawing session
- Experiment with different mediums and Get fed up with personal work looking too academic
- Experiment with personal work
I want to see if i can compress this year span cycle into a monthly or 2-month cycle. I feel like, combined with morning training, ill evolve faster that way.
More priority re-working.

Tried to give the game a bit more awareness in montreal before its july release so i did theses fan work and gave free prints at the otakuthon convention. Sadly, Sega- the publisher - did not bring the game to the US even if the PAL version is fully localized in all languages. Still, good thoughts go out to platinum games for their next project !
